Plagiarism Policy

SUSTAIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits any form of plagiarism. Authors must ensure that their submitted manuscripts are original, properly cited, and free from plagiarism.

Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes but is not limited to:

  1. Direct Plagiarism – Copying text, figures, tables, or ideas from other sources without proper citation.
  2. Self-Plagiarism – Republishing one's own previously published work or significant portions thereof without proper citation.
  3. Mosaic Plagiarism – Paraphrasing another author's work by changing words or sentence structures while retaining the original meaning, without proper attribution.
  4. Improper Citation – Using ideas, theories, data, or findings from other sources without acknowledging the original authors.
  5. Fabrication and Falsification – Creating, altering, or fabricating data, results, or references.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using Turnitin and Plagiarism Checker X. The journal will take the following measures:

  • Manuscripts with a similarity score of more than 25% (excluding references, quotes, and commonly used phrases) will be returned to the authors for revision.
  • If plagiarism is detected at any stage before publication, the manuscript will be rejected immediately.
  • If plagiarism is detected after publication, the article will be retracted, and the authors may face sanctions.

Sanctions for Plagiarism

If plagiarism is confirmed, the following actions may be taken:

  1. Minor Plagiarism (less than 10% similarity without proper citation)

    • The manuscript will be returned to the author for revision and proper citation.
  2. Moderate Plagiarism (10–25% similarity with significant uncited sources)

    • The manuscript will be rejected, and the author will be required to rewrite and resubmit.
  3. Severe Plagiarism (more than 25% similarity or full duplication of content)

    • The manuscript will be rejected, and the author(s) will be blacklisted from future submissions.
    • The editor may notify the author's institution or funding agency about the ethical violation.

SUSTAIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat is committed to maintaining the integrity of scholarly publications and takes plagiarism seriously. Authors are encouraged to use reference management tools such as Mendeley, EndNote, or Zotero to ensure proper citation practices.
