Publication Ethics
SUSTAIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat is a peer-reviewed journal that upholds the highest ethical standards in publishing. This publication ethics statement clarifies the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publishing process, including authors, editors, and reviewers. The journal follows ethical guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Duties of Authors
-
Reporting Standards
Authors must present an accurate and objective report of their original community service activities. The manuscript should include sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate or build upon the work. Any form of falsification or fabrication of data is considered unethical and unacceptable. -
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their manuscript is entirely original and has not been published or under review elsewhere. Proper acknowledgment and citation must be provided when referring to prior research. Plagiarism in any form, including self-plagiarism, is strictly prohibited. -
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously. Submitting the same research to more than one journal at the same time is unethical and unacceptable. -
Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors must properly cite all data sources, previous research, and any relevant references that influenced their work. -
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the research, implementation, or writing of the manuscript. Those who have provided minor contributions should be acknowledged appropriately. All listed authors must approve the final version of the manuscript before submission. -
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that could influence the research or interpretation of the findings. All sources of financial support for the work must be disclosed. -
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they must immediately notify the journal editor and cooperate in retracting or correcting the paper.
Duties of Editors
-
Publication Decision
The editorial board is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts will be published. Decisions should be based on the manuscript’s quality, originality, and contribution to the field of community service. Editors must adhere to journal policies and ethical guidelines. -
Fair Play
Editors must evaluate manuscripts based solely on their academic and scientific merit without regard to race, gender, religious beliefs, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors. -
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher. -
Peer Review Process
Editors must ensure that the peer review process is fair, unbiased, and timely. They must assign qualified reviewers and ensure a constructive review process. -
Handling Conflicts of Interest
Editors must avoid handling manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors or institutions involved.
Duties of Reviewers
-
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making publication decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts through constructive feedback. -
Timeliness
If a selected reviewer feels unqualified or unable to complete the review process in a timely manner, they should notify the editor and decline the review. -
Confidentiality
All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shared or discussed with others without the editor's permission. -
Objectivity and Standards
Reviews should be conducted objectively, and comments should be clear, constructive, and based on academic reasoning. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. -
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been cited by the authors. If a reviewer notices substantial similarity between the manuscript under review and another published work, they must report it to the editor. -
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in a reviewer’s own research without the author's permission. Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
By adhering to these ethical guidelines, SUSTAIN: Jurnal Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat aims to maintain the integrity and credibility of published research while fostering an ethical research environment.
